Web App Theme

[UPDATE]

Like I wrote in the comments, this layout is inspired from cool applications like lighthouse, basecamp, and others. I love those applications, I love their layouts, and it’s difficult to not be inspired by them.

Mattly, Will, I love lighthouse theme and themes of others apps like that. I think is the current style for cool applications. I tried without copying, but it’s hard to not be inspired from cool theme like that :)

I tip my hat to you sir!

This is something that gets in the way of most of my development projets. With this place, I can now focus on getting the functionality of the project in place without worrying about the look and feel.

This is a great piece of work. About the similarities with Lighthouse I think they’re just random similarities.

Gustavo, just for now I want to focus on the layout part, but if you want you can create your theme using images for that!

    Hi Andrea,

I’ve forked your repo and begin to use it (http://github.com/jlecour/web-app-theme)

I’ve been using some grid layouts like Blueprint and 960.gs and I think it could be smart to inspire from them for some flexible columns inside the main content, not just for forms.

I also would like to add the possibility to have a full width main content.

Let me know if you’re already working on something similar, we could join our effort.

Thank you very much for your work, it’s very useful.

    Round corner in IE7
    I suggest Rico javascript
    http://demos.openrico.org/demos/effect_round

I know it is an hack but given the fact that IE is also an hack it shouldn’t matter … :-)

    Andrea,
This is great. How do I use the rails generators? Thanks for doing this.

Andrea, could you please add some more documentation on how to use it? It took me a while to understand how to make use of the generators: I know put everything into ~/.rails to have the generators available. “script/generate theme” does work for me, but I really do not understand how to make use of “script/generate themed”. I tried “script/generate themed FilesController” but it always tells me “undefined method ‘columns’ for FilesController::Class”.

I just do not have any clue how to make use of this generator.

    Good work!
